Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth rehabilitation of the royal kingdom of Cambodia organized a two-day workshop starting from 08 December 2009 to strengthening aftercare standard. This workshop was taken place in Koh Kong province with 150 participants who came from 7 different provinces such as Kampot, Kep, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Preah Sihanouk, Take and Koh Kong participated.

SSF was assigned its Child Protection Coordinator, Ms Sinuon Chea to attend against invitation letter made from the Ministry. This is the first time of SSF staff who had a greatest chance to attend such wonderful workshop externally since we established. Our organization is too small but we were drawn attention by the ministry. That we are grateful about.

SSF is able to exchange with other organizations in region to share about what we are doing as well as learning what other do in the same context. According to Sinoun stressed, we found that the Cambodian government is really wanted to reduce child institutionalized care that is the core value of SSF. SSF wants all children live with their blood families than separation.

Sinoun could learn a lot new skills dealing with teenagers through the workshop and she is committed herself to improve her work since she returns. Sinuon will be attended another six-month training on working with vulnerable children at SSC starting from this late December. At least one week a month that she will be left SSF to attend the training. SSF enjoys to build up her capacity to ensure she can effectively work with the at-high risk teentagers that we focuse at the moment but due to we are too small and major budget we have at the moment is for programing implementation than staff incentive and capacity building therefore we still need to raise money for staff capacity building yet. The Koh Kong workshop was covered by ministry on food and guesthouse while every participant will need to pay aside on transportation and lesson handouts. In a total amount that SSF needs to raise for her training in Koh Kong and at SSC is US$ 250. Support her  to acquire her capacity working with vulnerable children at SSF we need your pledge on the amount. Any donation can do at http://ssfcambodia.org/index.php?page=donate
